Begzsuren and his wife, Mungunsoyombo learned how to cook from an early age, from their families. Mungunsoyombo learned how to make traditional food healthier from her experience in nutritional studies. They live with their three children in a traditional Ger house in the suburbs of Ulaanbaatar. A traditional Ger home is a simple, portable, round tent covered with felt and used as a dwelling place in Central Asia. Begzsuren, Mungunsoyombo and his children will welcome you with hot herbal tea made from nettles Begzsuren picked from a herb garden. Join Begzsuren at his home for this cooking and meal experience and get introduced to Mongolian life, culture and cuisine.
or public transport to his family’s traditional ger, located about 5 km from the city center. A ger is a round, felt covered tent traditionally used by nomadic families across Mongolia. Upon arrival, Bee and his wife Soy will welcome you with warm nettle tea foraged from a nearby mountain and introduce you to Mongolian daily life, customs, and food traditions. Join them for a private, hands on, cooking class where you will prepare classic Mongolian dishes using fresh, local ingredients and family recipes passed down through generations. You may learn to make handmade noodle soup and traditional steamed dumplings while gaining insight into Mongolian cuisine and nomadic culture. After cooking, sit down to enjoy the meal you helped prepare, which may include noodle soup, steamed dumplings, and sheep meat, shared in a warm family setting inside the ger. End the experience by learning shagai, a traditional Mongolian knuckle bone game and a family favorite. This immersive experience offers a unique opportunity to cook, eat, and connect with a local family just outside Ulaanbaatar.
Begzsuren will meet you at the concierge desk of your hotel (at 10:30am for a morning experience or 12pm for an afternoon experience) and together you will ride in a car or taxi or bus to his home. You will dropped off at your hotel at the end of your experience. Please include your hotel name and address when you book online.
