There is a route that links the big Colored Canyon to Wadi Wishwashi, and almost nobody walks it. We found it, mapped it and have been walking it for years. It's the longest and most rewarding day we run.
We meet at 6:00 in Dahab and drive by 4x4 to Ain Khudra Oasis for a Bedouin breakfast. From Mushroom Rock we enter the Colored Canyon: narrow walls of red, yellow and purple rock, short scrambles and climbs. About 13 km later we reach Wishwashi Spring, with its pools and palms, and take time to rest. Another 2 km brings us to the car, and we finish the day at a beach camp near Nuweiba with dinner by the sea before driving back to Dahab.
This is a strong day: about 14 hours door to door and 15 km on foot. Small private group with a local Bedouin guide.
Meet at 6:00 in Dahab, leave at 6:15 by 4x4. Ain Khudra Oasis for a Bedouin breakfast (about 1 hour), Mushroom Rock, then the big Colored Canyon, where we start the 13 km hike through the canyon to Wadi Wishwashi and its spring (rest and pools, about 1 hour). A final 2 km walk to the car, then dinner by the sea at a beach camp near Nuweiba before driving back to Dahab. We may switch to a minivan for the paved road home.
