You'll have the chance to reach the highest point of Pico Volcano — and of Portugal — an active volcano where warm fumaroles greet the sunrise. We'll enjoy a local coffee at the summit, awakening all the senses for this unforgettable moment.

Your hike begins in the early hours before dawn, under a clear, starry sky. With your headlamp lighting the path, you'll make your way up the volcanic slopes in the quiet stillness of the night. Reaching the summit just before sunrise, you'll have the chance to watch the sun slowly rise above the horizon, bringing the landscape to life. From this high point in the middle of the Atlantic, you'll take in the morning light spreading across the surrounding islands and ocean—a peaceful and rewarding moment after the climb. Throughout the hike, your experienced guides will ensure a safe and enjoyable journey while sharing insights about Pico’s volcanic landscape and natural environment. A memorable challenge, a stunning sunrise, and an adventure worth taking! Note: The starting time displayed is not fixed as we have to adjust to the weather conditions. The day before your hike you'll be informed precisely about the meeting time.
The meeting point is the Mountain House, the official building where hikers go through in order to check in and enter the Natural Reserve.
The group will be gathered for a briefing and each participant will receive hiking poles + headlight.
There is a big car parking lot. Toilets are available.
