The western Andalusian mountain range is an excellent area for birdwatching and a perfect complement to coastal wetlands. Very popular among birders to find species usually difficult to locate in Europe including some scarce endemics.
Among birds possible to see, Cinclus cinclus is present also difficutl to see.
The trip usually finishes at Tajo de Ronda. All in all, this ornithological tour has much to offer to the visitors with endless variations.
Cliffs offer attractive habitats for Mediterranean mountain birds which are scarce in lowlands. The rupicolous and uplands avifauna will be the target of this excursion, with a short, yet specific, list of species to locate among the crags… Griffon vultures, Crag Martins, Black Redstarts, Rock Buntings, Blue Rock-thrushes and Red-billed Choughs. A dense population of vultures and raptors is breeding in the region or passing-by during the migration period. Bonelli Eagle is resident and a most sought species although its habits and elusiveness makes it difficult to observe in the field. Bushes attract Sardinian warblers and other passerines such as Cirl buntings. Other Mediterranean specialties to actively search for in Western Andalusian sierras are Tekla larks and Rock sparrows.
We will pick you up at your hotel. The driver will be waiting for you with his binoculars and typical "birdwatching uniform".
