What to expect
Monastery of São Bento da Vitória
The Monastery of São Bento da Vitória is one of Porto's most iconic monuments, with a history dating back to the 17th century — its grandeur, cultural heritage, and baroque architecture make it the ideal setting for the expression of fado.
• Guided Tour: The 30-minute guided tour takes you through the monastery's main buildings, including the church of São Bento da Vitória with its 18th-century organ and spectacular golden baroque altar, before concluding in the monastery's sacristy.
• The guided tour is conducted in Portuguese and/or English.
• Singeverga Tasting: Before the concert, you'll receive a glass of Singeverga Liqueur, handmade by the monks, and a glass of Reserva Port wine
• — a tasting that is as much cultural context as it is flavour. Singeverga is the only liqueur produced by monks in Portugal.
• Fado Concert: In the sacristy, you'll enjoy an hour of authentic fado, with a 10-minute intermission. The concert is performed by a fado singer accompanied by Portuguese guitar and Fado viola.
• The stone walls of the sacristy amplify every note — the sound is physical here in a way it simply isn't in a restaurant or modern performance space.
• Your voucher will be emailed to you shortly.
• Display the voucher on your mobile phone with a valid photo ID at the starting point.
