PLEASE READ THROUGH THOROUGHLY: There are NO kids allowed under the age of 8 years old. Every participant must be older 8 years and older. You must arrive 20 minutes early. Experience a fully guided tour into the 8th wonder of the world, Upper Antelope Canyon. This tour will show the natural illuminating sunlight on the canyon walls, while it is changing colors throughout the seasons. Tour 1 allows sightseers to experience the canyon for around 80 minutes in their selected time slot. With the new updated guidelines, Upper Antelope Canyon is a single direction tour. Visitors will now exit with a 15-minute hike, up and over the beautiful canyon. There are 21 steps going up and 112 steps going down. No children under 8 years old and due to the elevation changes, this tour is not handicapped accessible.

This a great alternative slot canyon tour compared to Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon. We try to keep out tour guide to guest ratio 14:1. to help elevate guest experiences. When booking a tour with WCE, guests are shuttled from our office location to the canyon entrance site to begin the slot canyon tour. A quiet, slow guided hiking tour with a single tour guide through Waterhole Canyon allows you to capture memorable photos of an EXPERIENCE that will last a lifetime. All participants must be 8 years and older. During the summer season, we want to inform all guests that we implement a high temperature policy. We are located in Arizona and during the summer season we can reach triple digit weather. As a company, our guests’ safety comes first therefore when the outside temperature reaches 95 degree Fahrenheit we close the canyon. All tour operations end.

Buckskin Gulch Day Hike
EXPERIENCE A DEEP, REMOTE SLOT CANYON. Buckskin Gulch is the longest slot canyon in the world, slicing through the beautiful Navajo sandstone in southern Utah. Enjoy an intimate adventure in an incredible slot canyon without the mass of crowds that are encountered at Zions or Antelope Canyon. We'll be dropping into the very middle of this remote canyon, bypassing a long hike at the beginning, and exploring the labyrinth at a leisurely pace all to ourselves. This hike is not for anyone with a strong fear of heights and requires a steep Class 3 scramble into the slot (you'll be using your hands on the rock). This is a physically demanding full-day hike between 6 to 10 miles, with 500' vertical elevation between top and bottom. Recent rain events may require hiking through mud and wading through pools of water. Conditions inside the slot canyon change continuously, so bring an adventurous and positive attitude. Entry into the canyon is allowed only if safe from flash flood danger.

Through pinion pine and juniper forests on the way, you will distinguish Bryce Canyon in the distance and discover the highest plateau in the Western hemisphere, the Aquarius Plateau, towering at more than 11,300 feet & composing the highlands of the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument.

There are as many metaphors to describe what locals call 'down in the Buckskin' as there are people who have been there. I choose the word 'in' because you are literally inside the walls of the world's longest slot canyon. According to the Bureau of Land Management ('BLM') website, Buckskin Gulch is 16 miles long (around 26 km) from the Buckskin Trailhead to the Paria Canyon and over 500 feet (around 150m) deep at its confluence with the Paria River. There are places in the Buckskin where you are able to touch both canyon walls at the same time. Buckskin Gulch is a photographer's and hiker's Mecca. Every corner you turn is changing continuously; the cliffs are water-and-wind-sculpted patterns of colors, light and shadows. You may also marvel and puzzle at the meanings of the rock writings (petroglyphs) from the early Archaic period (some are as old as 9,000 years). It was voted one the top 10 hikes in the world by National Geographic Adventure Magazine a few years back.
