A series of events in recent years have shone a new light on the true origins of Zinfandel. Learn more about Dalmatian history and taste Zinfandel as well as other indigenous Dalmatian wine varieties in 2 ancient wineries. Croatia is not just one of the oldest wine regions on the planet, it’s also one of the most diverse. We have around 150 indigenous grape sorts and Kastela region near Split has 11. According to the old Church documents family Kuzmanic started producing wine 300 years ago, especially ancient Dalmatian sorts Glavinusa, Babica (ZINFANDEL’S GENETIC COUSINS NOT AVAILABLE ELSEWHERE) and Posip. Their sea-view cellar located on the slopes of mountain Kozjak is a 120 years old stone house offering fantastic views of the nearby islands. We’ll have time to try all their award winning sorts accompanied by traditional Dalmatian prosciutto and cheese and take a stroll to the nearby Biblical Garden where you will learn about Zinfandel’s Croatian origin.
