No prior climbing experience is needed, whether indoor or outdoor. This activity is tailored for complete beginners or those who have been climbing indoors and want to experience outdoor rock climbing. It's also perfect for boulderers looking to learn rope climbing techniques, abseiling, and how to use belay devices. You'll get familiar with knots and rope techniques, making it an ideal introduction to the world of rock climbing.
We also offer 'Introduction to Rock Climbing' days, ideal for school groups, clubs, corporate team-building events, pre-wedding parties, and more. Whether you’re looking to build team spirit, celebrate a special occasion, or try something new, our sessions are designed to be fun, challenging, and memorable.
We keep a 1:12 instructor-to-participant ratio, ensuring personalized attention and safety. With space for up to 25 participants, everyone will have plenty of room to climb and connect.
This is your chance to learn outdoor rock climbing techniques first-hand. In our coaching sessions, conducted by a certified and very experienced RCI (Rock Climbing Instructor), you'll learn how to rope up correctly, use equipment safely, and optimize your body movements to conserve energy while climbing. Additionally, you'll gain the skills to abseil independently. Also, you'll explore the climbing area, understanding the dynamics of a crag, enjoy the social aspects, and learn how routes are set based on rock features and how to read the rock and its lines. We will climb single pitch sport routes with bolts or possibly head to a trad climbing area, depending on the weather and the location of the activity.
Sessions will take place in Scotland's central belt, with locations chosen based on weather and group proximity. Popular spots for introductory climbing include Neilston Quarry, Benny Beg, Auchinstarry, and Traprain Law.
Prior to the session, we will decide the exact climbing crag.
