Some Ramayana traditions also suggest that Sigiriya was part of the region controlled by Ravana, used for military observation or protection routes during the time Seetha was held in Lanka. Today, while Sigiriya is historically known as the 5th-century rock fortress of King Kashyapa, it is included in the Ramayana Trail as a site connected to Ravana’s era, blending mythology, archaeology, and natural beauty.
