Five (o) or Six (ryuk)? The name "Oryukdo" can be found in the Dongnaebuji sancheonjo (Mountain and River Records in the Dongnae-bu County Gazetteer), which states that "the islands were thus named because five (o) peaks could be the west and six (ryuk) peaks from the seen from east." The other story about the origin of its name is related to Bangpaeseom (the closest island to the land) and Solseom. These two islands are almost connected at the bottom, looking like one island. at low tide but two at high tide. Therefore, the number of islands becomes five (o) and six (ryuk). That's why the islands were named "Oryukdo."

Bulguksa Temple (Historic Site No. 502) Construction of Bulguksa Temple is said to have been started by Prime Minister Kim Daeseong under King Gyeongdeok of Silla in 751, and was completed by the government after his death.
