Visit Ras al Hadd a district with a famous turtle breeding beach in Oman. This beach has been proclaimed a turtle reserve. Turtles come here, especially to Ras Al Jinz beach in Wilayt Ras AlHadd, to lay an estimated number of from 6,000 to 13,000 eggs. The beach is distinguished by its spectacular bays and rock formations which are havens for large numbers of birds.
We stop for a visit at the Bimah Sinkhole for photos and, if you like, a swim in the blue and green water of the sinkhole.
Filled with palm trees and other greenery, the mountain truly has character. Around 35-minute hike up through the wadi, we reach the end where we take a chance to relax, swimming and enjoy the nature of Oman.
We will quickly check-in to our hotel/camp and then make our way to the turtle sanctuary in Ras Al Jinz. At this point, the evening sky will take over and we will take a guided tour in the beautiful beach under the stars where we have a good chance of seeing Oman’s great sea turtles making their way onto the beach to build their nests and lay their eggs. If we are lucky, we may see baby turtles hatching from the eggs. Overnight stay in Ras Al Hadd.
Sur is one of the most important towns on the northern Omani cape. Something fascinating in Sur is one of the last Omani shipyards. We will take you to see one of the small workshops where Omani traditional boats are still made by hand.
This wadi is especially pretty with some small villages and the large banana plantation. After this visit, we return to Muscat.
