We know what it's like to visit a new place (or return to an already-visited place). You want to see and experience as much as you can! We understand that. Our main goal with the Tour de Wilmington is to show you as much of Wilmington as possible. The areas that we travel through or have a brief stop in, are areas that you may not have discovered otherwise! Some of these are off the beaten path, some up-and-coming, but all are sure to impress. Our tours are focused on mainly riding the e-bikes, showing you around the areas. Getting on and off e-bikes can be challenging for some, and for this reason, we specifically do not require attendees to dismount and re-mount their e-bikes several times throughout the tour (aka, a talking tour). We will have brief stops at a few places, but for the most part, you will get to really enjoy a beautiful e-bike ride!

Common questions about booking Wilmington experiences through SimilarTours
Spring through fall are peak months, so book 2-3 weeks ahead if you want a specific date or boat. Winter charters are quieter but still happen - check what's running before you plan a cold-weather trip.
Yes. A 2-hour lesson at Wrightsville Beach teaches you the fundamentals and gets you hands-on with the boat right away. You'll spend real time at the helm, not just watching.
Absolutely. Island-hopping cruises, pontoon rentals, and sunset cruises all work well with children. Confirm age minimums and life jacket policies with your captain before booking.
It's about 15 minutes from downtown Wilmington by car. Most charter companies have parking at their docks. Check before you go whether your booking includes parking or if you need to arrange it separately.
Expect the boat, captain, and basic equipment (life jackets, fishing rods on fishing trips). Food and drinks often aren't included - some charters like the charcuterie cruise to Masonboro Island add that as a specialty option. Ask what's provided when you book.
No. The guides on scenic fishing trips work with beginners and seasoned anglers alike. They'll handle tackle setup and teach you as you go.
For a sunset cruise, yes - a local captain knows the best light, the history of the waterfront, and where to anchor for the view. It's not something you'd really DIY in a rental boat.

Wilmington sits at the confluence of rivers and sounds, and the water is where visitors really spend their time. You'll find locals booking private boat charters year-round - whether that's a sunset cruise through downtown, a sailing lesson at Wrightsville Beach, or a full day island-hopping to sandbars with a pontoon. The fishing trips up the Neuse River pull in people looking for both catch and scenery. Most experiences here are built for small groups or families wanting their own boat and captain, which means you're not jockeying for space on a crowded deck.
