The wonder of the Inca Trail, which connects to the citadel of Machu Picchu, is the best hiking trail in Peru This experience gives us endless emotions from the first day and an excellent way to enjoy the connecting route known as the “Nobility of the Inca Trail“. This takes us to a semi-tropical forest with a wide variety of orchids. In the deepest part of this gorge flows the serpentine river Willkamayu or “Sacred River”, known by the Incas. There are important archaeological complexes such as Llactapata, Wayllabamba, Runkuraqay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca, Inti Pata, Wiñayhuayna and Inti Punku, which lead to the lost city of the Incas “Machu Picchu“. We know very well each place of this tour, since we have grown up in this area and we studied over 3 years to get a guide license. as well, our vehicles have all the permits to operate. We know when and where to go first to avoid the crowds. We want you enjoy the beauty and peace of each place and if you do not want to get too exhausted doing long tours over 8 hours, this is the best option for you. Splitting the visit to the Sacred Valley in 2 days will allow us to do shorter and more relaxed tours between 6 and 8 hours aprox. per day. But also, we will have plenty of time to have a deeper insight of each place, especially if we start the tour from Urubamba (town in the Sacred Valley). WE SUGGEST TO STAY IN URUBAMBA, because this town is closer to all the sites and is about 800 m lower than Cusco city, better to acclimatize to the altitude and also closer to get to Machupicchu. Remember, our tours are PRIVATE, so we are very flexible.

Common questions about booking Sacred Valley experiences through SimilarTours
Minimum two days if you're doing Machu Picchu as a day trip from Cusco. If you want to trek, allow 4-5 days total - many travelers book multi-day itineraries that loop through the valley, Cusco, and the mountain. Even one extra day in the valley itself (visiting markets, smaller ruins, or doing a shorter trek) changes the experience completely.
May through September is the dry season - clearest views, most stable weather, and the most crowded trails. December through March is wet but dramatically greener, fewer tourists, and cheaper. Check before you go since weather can shift quickly at this altitude.
Yes, especially for the Inca Trail and other 4-day treks, which fill up weeks ahead in high season. Even day trips to Machu Picchu run regularly, but booking ahead guarantees your spot and often gets you better pricing. Last-minute options exist but your choice of dates and tour type narrows significantly.
Absolutely. A guide transforms what you see - the history of the sites, where water channels run, which terraces are ceremonial - goes way beyond what a solo visit offers. Most travelers book guided experiences rather than going solo, which tells you something about how much context matters at these altitudes and archaeological sites.
Typically accommodation, some meals, transportation between sites, and guide services. Check before you book because accommodations range from basic hostels to comfortable lodges, and what's included varies. Train tickets to Machu Picchu often cost extra even on guided tours.
Most organized tours handle transport. If you're piecing it together, roads connect towns but many travelers use the scenic train from Cusco for convenience. Local buses exist but guided tours streamline the logistics, especially if you're acclimatizing to the altitude.
Day trips to Machu Picchu work for families - the train is comfortable and the site has uneven but walkable paths. Multi-day treks are strenuous and high-altitude; check with operators about what's realistic for your group. Those with mobility concerns should confirm accessibility details with tour providers before booking.

Peru
Sacred Valley sits high in the Peruvian Andes, a region of steep green slopes, terraced fields, and Quechua villages that feels genuinely removed from the world. Most visitors come here as part of a longer trip anchored by Machu Picchu - you'll find people booking everything from single-day sprints to the site to multi-day treks like the Inca Trail or Lares Trek that build in acclimatization time around Cusco. The valley itself rewards slower exploration: markets, lesser-known ruins, and mountain hikes that don't require the same crowds or permits as the big-name trails. Whether you're after a quick guided tour from Cusco or a week-long immersion mixing trekking, train rides, and high-altitude lakes, the booking patterns here show most people structure their time around combining valley exploration with the main event.
