Common questions about booking Recife experiences through SimilarTours
A private transfer makes sense if you're heading anywhere beyond central Recife - most people booking here are actually going to coastal towns like Maceió or Natal, or inland to mountain villages. Even if you're staying in the city, having a driver who knows the route saves stress after a long flight. It's worth comparing prices on SimilarTours before you book.
Airport transfers can often be arranged a day or two ahead, but if you're planning a guided tour like the Recife & Olinda highlights or Usina de Arte, book at least a few days out. Check before you go for seasonal demand - peak season may fill up faster.
The cooler, drier months from September to March offer the most comfortable weather for exploring the city and nearby areas. December to February can be very humid, but that's also when many beach towns south of here are at their best.
Yes, especially for Olinda's older quarters and local art spaces like Usina de Arte, where a guide opens up stories about street art and colonial history you'd miss alone. A local perspective transforms what might otherwise feel like a generic colonial walk into something real.
The city centre is walkable, and taxis or ride-shares work for short trips. If you're planning day trips to coastal towns or mountain villages, private transfers or a rental car give you the most flexibility - many people book point-to-point transfers rather than longer day tours.
The city itself has beaches and colonial architecture that families enjoy, though the heat and humidity can be intense. Check before you go on specific family-oriented activities - most bookings here tend toward adult-focused transfers and tours rather than kid-specific experiences.
A private transfer from the airport usually covers door-to-door transport in a car or van with a driver. Some include a meet-and-greet at arrivals, but confirm what's included when you book - it varies between operators.

Brazil
Recife is a salt-worn Atlantic port city where colonial architecture meets contemporary street art, and the real action often starts at the airport. Travellers here tend to use it as a launching point - booking private transfers inland to cooler highland towns like Serra Talhada and Buíque, or south along the coast to Natal and the beach resort of Praia da Pipa. But plenty of visitors stay put to explore Olinda's pastel-coloured neighbourhoods and catch a private tour through Usina de Arte, where local artists work in converted warehouses. The airport sits about 12km from the city centre, so ground transport is usually the first thing people arrange.
