This self-guided Cornwall road trip is designed to show how the county’s coastline, historic towns and inland landscapes connect into one coherent journey rather than a collection of separate destinations. Instead of piecing routes together yourself, the guide links Cornwall’s most iconic touring routes — the Atlantic Highway, the Penwith Peninsula and the Fal River region — into a clear travelling structure. You can follow the full route across Cornwall or explore individual parts depending on timeframe. Along the way the guide connects harbour villages, Atlantic cliffs, beaches, maritime towns and historic inland landscapes that reveal the character of the county. Rather than a rigid itinerary, the guide provides narrative context, route progression and flexible time-based planning ideas so you can adapt for coastal walks, scenic drives and changing weather. With 12 months access included, you can start planning well before your trip and return to the guide whenever you need.

Freshly made and served in bone China, you can choose from a range of teas supplied by the award winning Westcountry Tea Co, or coffee if you prefer. Common questions about booking Cornwall experiences through SimilarTours
Spring and early autumn offer the most comfortable weather for outdoor activities like coasteering and moorland walks. Summer is warmest but also most crowded, and seaside tours book up faster. If you're keen on specific experiences, check availability first - some guides operate year-round, others adjust seasonally.
Yes. Popular private guides - especially the half-day Doc Martin and Fisherman's Friends tour, or boat trips from Helford River - fill up weeks ahead, particularly in school holidays and weekends. Taster surfing lessons and coasteering adventures also tend to have limited daily slots.
Absolutely, if you want stories alongside scenery. Guides here excel at weaving history - mining heritage, witchcraft folklore, filming locations - into landscape you could walk yourself. The half-day private tours and moorland tours justify the cost through local knowledge you won't find solo.
Most tours arrange meeting points in accessible towns like Bude or central locations. For boat tours, check if the Helford River departure point suits your transport. If you're relying on public transport, confirm with your tour operator that the start location is reachable - some moorland and coastal tours require driving to quieter spots.
Many are. The taster surfing lesson, coasteering adventures, and scenic tea rides work well for kids with reasonable fitness. Moorland walks and knife-making experiences depend on age and ability - check participant requirements before booking. Private tours can often be tailored to family pace.
Guided tours usually include the guide's expertise and transport within the tour area. The scenic tea ride includes refreshments at the end. Adventure activities like surfing and coasteering typically provide equipment. Always confirm what's included - especially whether lunch, refreshments, or entrance fees are covered - before you book.
Yes. Taster surfing lessons in Bude are designed for first-timers, and coasteering adventures near Bude and Bossiney Cove cater to mixed abilities - though you'll need to be reasonably comfortable in water. Check exact fitness and swimming requirements before booking any coastal adventure.

Cornwall delivers drama in spades - rugged coastline, moorland mystery, and the kind of film-set charm that's drawn crews to shoot here for decades. Visitors tend to book a mix of coastal adventures (coasteering and surfing lessons near Bude are popular), private guided walks through West Cornwall's mining and folklore history, and boat trips from the Helford River. The region also pulls people interested in hands-on experiences like knife making, or a slower pace with scenic tea rides across moor and farmland. Most tours here blend storytelling with landscape - whether that's following Poldark locations, hunting quoits and stone circles on Bodmin Moor, or exploring castles and canals.
