Half-Day Private Zhujiajiao Water Town Tour with Boat Ride from Shanghai

at 10 am (weekend tours can be started early). After an hour's drive, you will arrive at the 600-year-old Water Town Zhujiajiao which is often compared to Venice.

It is dotted with pavilions, ponds, and bridges which add to the beauty of the natural landscape.

five-arched Fangsheng Bridge, first built in 1571 with proceeds from a monk’s 15 years of alms-gathering. It passes over a wide expanse of water, reminiscent of sections of Venice's famous waterways. From here you will have a boat ride to get an idea of the old time life style in Southern China, and you can take some photos of the water town. After the boat ride, you will be walking along the old alleyways to see more local buildings and bridges.

It is not a huge place but it's nice to walk through the old wooden building's interior, with mildly interesting exhibits such as vintage postcards and an imperial postie's uniform.

After your meal, visit some local shops with your guide on hand to help translate prices. Your tour ends with drop-off back at your hotel or the port.
