2 Days Zagora Desert Experience with Local Berber Guide

Depart from the meeting point in Zagora in the morning and begin your journey towards M'Hamid El Ghizlane. Your first stop is Tamegroute, the holy village of Southern Morocco, where you will visit the famous ancient Quranic Library, home to centuries-old manuscripts.

From Tamegroute you will continue to Tagounite, where you'll have time to purchase any supplies before heading deeper into the Sahara.

km off-road 4x4 adventure across the desert towards the magnificent dunes of Erg Chegaga. Along the way, cross vast rocky desert plateaus, dry riverbeds, and small sand dunes while enjoying the spectacular landscapes of the Moroccan Sahara. With a bit of luck, you may spot wildlife such as ostriches, Dorcas gazelles, and other desert animals.

You will stop for a picnic lunch in the shade of tamarisk and acacia trees before continuing your journey.

In the afternoon, arrive at the impressive dunes of Erg Chegaga, where you'll enjoy a memorable camel ride across the golden sand dunes and watch a breathtaking Sahara sunset from the top of the dunes. Spend the evening at a traditional desert camp, enjoying a delicious Moroccan dinner, Berber music around the campfire, and an unforgettable night beneath the stars.

The following morning, after breakfast at the camp, return towards M'Hamid using a different off-road route, offering new desert scenery and landscapes. Stop for photos at M'Hamid El Ghizlane, the last village before the vast Sahara Desert, before continuing back to Zagora.

You will enjoy lunch on the way and visit the historic Jewish Kasbah, as well as the famous green pottery cooperative, unique in Morocco, where you'll witness traditional handmade craftsmanship. The time you will spend there depend on how much you will need fom 30 mins to an hour. Then arrive back in Zagora in the late afternoon.
