Getting started
On the day of your visit, go straight to the entrance of the experience you have selected, such as the Buckingham Palace State Rooms or the Royal Mews. Present your ticket for the chosen option and pass through the standard security checks. Collect your multimedia or audio guide, then begin exploring at your own pace.
What to expect
State Rooms
Step inside the working royal residence and access the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace, open for a limited season each year (July 9 to September 27, 2026).

• Palatial rooms: Walk through the State Rooms, which are used by the royal family for official ceremonies and receptions, and see how the palace functions as a working residence.

Royal Mews
Head to the Royal Mews (March 5 to November 1, 2026), the working stables that support the royal household’s ceremonial and official transport.

• Royal transport: View the Golden State Carriage, used for coronations, along with other royal carriages and vehicles that play a role in major state occasions.
• Stables and horses: See the royal stables area, where the horses that draw the coaches are based for official duties.
• Curated insights: Follow the multimedia guide in one of 9 languages to understand how the Mews operates day to day and during large ceremonial events.
Extras
• Changing the Guard tour: Combine State Rooms access with an introduction to one of London’s best-known ceremonies as you follow the route of the guards as they take part in the handover ceremony, observing the precision and pageantry of the event.
• Westminster walking tour: Go on a 1.5-hour walking tour of Westminster and cover Buckingham Palace and Big Ben, then see the Changing the Guard ceremony in a small-group English-guided tour.
